  One of the consequences of taking a stand on an academic issue that has commercial implications seems to be ongoing academic harassment or stalking.
   
• Shock Therapy Controversy
  Along with Edward Shorter, I recently authored a book on the history of electro- convulsive therapy (ECT) called Shock Therapy. ECT polarises people more than any other treatment in medicine. A history of ECT was therefore almost certain to polarise and hostile reviews were to be expected.
